Willard concludes MARS rookie campaign at Fairbury
Sporting a special Breast Cancer Awareness wrap, Brennon Willard completed his rookie year with the MARS Late Model Championship in the season-ending FALS Frenzy at Fairbury (Illinois) Speedway on the first weekend of October.
On Friday, Willard and his Willard Asphalt No. 3 Super Late Model outfit were among 45 MARS Late Model teams seeking the night’s $5,000 winner’s share. Willard took seventh in his heat race and sixth in his B-Main on the quarter-mile oval. He then rolled off 22nd to start the night’s 40-lap feature and brought home a 19th-place result.
Saturday saw 42 MARS Late Models at Fairbury for the $12,000-to-win season finale. Early in the evening, Willard claimed seventh in his heat and 10th in his B-Main. He started the main event from the 22nd spot for the second night in a row and finished 18th.
Willard ended the season ninth in the MARS Late Model Championship standings.
