Brennon Willard
11th-place finish for Willard at Brownstown, runner-up result at Lebanon I-44
Brennon Willard raced on both dirt and pavement over the weekend and posted solid results on each surface.
On Friday, Willard and his Willard Cattle No. 3 Super Late Model team were among 30 MARS Late Model Championship entries at the Brownstown (Illinois) Bullring for the Brownstown 100. Willard struggled in qualifying at the quarter-mile dirt track and took seventh in his heat race. After finishing sixth in his B-Main, he began the 50-lap, $10,000-win feature from the 21st position. He climbed an impressive 10 spots in the main event to come home 11th.
He is currently ninth in the MARS Late Model Championship standings.
The MARS Late Model schedule also included the Illinois State Championship at Peoria Speedway on Saturday. However, when that event was rained out, Willard elected to drive his No. 3 pavement Pro Late Model in the Nicholas Bradshaw Victory Lap Memorial Race at Lebanon (Missouri) I-44 Speedway.
Willard qualified with the fourth-quickest time in the 10-car field on the 3/8-mile high-banked oval. After leading the first circuit of the 30-lap feature, he finished as runner-up, 0.663 seconds behind winner Dylan Bates. Jimmy Fohn, Presley Johnson and Ella Simpson completed the top five.
