Brennon Willard races with MARS in Illinois on Labor Day weekend
From Friday through Sunday, the Midwest Auto Racing Series (MARS) Late Model Championship contested three events at Illinois tracks. Brennon Willard and his Allgaier Performance No. 3 Super Late Model team competed in the trio of events with a best finish of 12th.
On Friday, the Chuckwagon Food Service 40 brought 36 MARS Late Models to Farmer City Raceway for a $5,000-to-win program. At the quarter-mile track, Willard was ninth in his heat race and suffered a DNF in his B-Main, ending his evening before the 40-lap feature.
Saturday saw 35 MARS Late Model teams in the pit area at Fairbury Raceway for the Illinois Dirt Shootout. After finishing seventh in his heat on the quarter-mile oval, Willard took ninth in his B-Feature. He started the 50-lap, $10,000-to-win main event from 21st on the grid and finished in the same position.
The MARS Labor Day weekend slate wrapped up on Sunday evening when 24 MARS Late Models took part in the 35th annual Plowboy Nationals at the 3/8-mile Spoon River Speedway in Lewistown, Illinois. Willard raced to sixth in his heat and started 16th in the $5,000-to-win A-Main. He picked up four spots in the 40-lapper to grab 12th in the final rundown.
With the Labor Day holiday shows in the books, Willard sits 10th in the MARS Late Model Championship point standings.
