MARS feature starts at Kankakee County and Red Hill for Willard
Brennon Willard continued his full-time MARS Late Model Championship campaign over the weekend with a pair of races aboard his Willard Asphalt No. 3 Super Late Model in Illinois.
First, Willard took part in Friday’s Big Daddy Scrap 40, an event that brought 21 MARS Late Models to Kankakee, Illinois' Kankakee County Speedway. Willard did not start his heat race on the quarter-mile track and began the 40-lap, $5,000-to-win feature from the 19th spot. He climbed five positions and finished 14th.
On Saturday, the MARS schedule shifted to Red Hill Raceway in Sumner, Illinois, for the $5,000-to-win Red Hill Rumble. Willard, who was part of a 19-car field at the 4/10-mile speed plant, took eighth in his heat. He went on to start 15th and finish 17th in the 30-lap A-Main.
With his weekend results, Willard moved to ninth in the MARS Late Model Championship standings.
