Willard grabs 5th in Hayden Ross Memorial

With the MARS Late Model Championship on its June hiatus, Brennon Willard made starts with both the DIRTcar Summer Nationals and Sooner Late Model Series during the final week of the month. Along the way, he scored his first top-five finish of the season.

First, Willard and his Allgaier Performance No. 3 Super Late Model team joined the DIRTcar Summer Nationals – or Hell Tour – at Springfield (Missouri) Raceway on Tuesday to take part in a 45-car field. Willard finished eighth in his heat race on the quarter-mile track and took sixth in his C-Main, bringing his night to a close before the 30-lap, $5,000-to-win feature.

Over the weekend, Willard moved on to Oklahoma to race with the Sooner Late Model Series in the Hayden Ross Memorial at Thunderbird Speedway in Muskogee.

After the first night of the program fell to Mother Nature, 29 Super Late Models were at the half-mile track on Saturday to contend for the $6,600 winner’s share. Willard took the fourth spot in his heat and began the 20-lap A-Main from the 13th position. He mounted an impressive charge and finished fifth. He rounded out the top five behind Eli Ross (Hayden’s brother), Brett Hansen, Morgan Bagley and Jon Kirby.
