Willard takes on MARS opener at Maquoketa
Brennon Willard began a new challenge over the weekend as he kicked off his first full-time season with the MARS Late Model Championship in the Nippy 50 event at Maquoketa (Iowa) Speedway. On Friday and Saturday, he was part of 44-car fields in the series’ 2025 lid lifter and its inaugural appearance at the quarter-mile track.
On Friday, Willard did not start his heat race in his Schaeffer’s Racing Oil No. 3 Super Late Model and finished ninth in his B-Main, ending his evening before the 40-lap, $10,000-to-win feature.
Saturday saw Willard finish 10th in his heat and seventh in his “B,” bringing his Nippy 50 weekend to a close before the 50-lap, $15,000-to-win finale.
