Willard Returns to Florida for DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia

On Monday afternoon, Brennon Willard was back in action in The Sunshine State for the 50th annual DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Fla.). Drawing 51 cars, Willard lost a driveshaft in his time trial session that prevented him from making it out for his heat. For another $7,000-to-win A-Main on Tuesday, Brennon slipped back to an eighth place finish in his heat race, transferring him into the B-Main for another shot at the feature. Needing to place second or better, Willard logged an eighth-place outing.

On Wednesday night as the remainder of the weekend shifted under the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series banner, Willard came in ninth in his heat, sending him into the B-Main. Locking the Top 2 into the $10,000-to-win A-Main, Brennon posted a sixth-place finish.

For the fourth round of the DIRTcar Nationals on Thursday, Brennon followed up the 24th fastest time in his qualifying group with a sixth place finish in his heat. Transferring the Top 2 from the B-Main, Willard fell short with a sixth-place outing.

With an unfavorable forecast for the final two nights, Willard made the decision to scratch for the remainder of the weekend and head home.
