Brennon Willard
7th-place result for Willard in ULRA opener at Monett
Brennon Willard had originally planned on competing with the Midwest Auto Racing Series (MARS) Late Model Championship at Illinois' Brownstown Bullring on Friday. However, when the JCB Diggin’ Dirt 40 was rained out, he raced at Monett Motor Speedway in his home state of Missouri instead. He claimed a top-10 finish at the track in the first-ever United Late Model Racing Association (ULRA) event to kick off a two-race weekend.
At the 3/8-mile speed plant in Monett, Missouri, Willard was among 21 Super Late Model drivers seeking the inaugural $3,000 ULRA top prize. He drove his Willard Cattle No. 3 car to a third-place finish in his heat race, starting him ninth to begin the 30-lap feature. He picked up two spots in the race and came home seventh.
The next night, Willard was part of a 30-car MARS Late Model field at the quarter-mile Peoria (Illinois) Speedway for the Garry Swibold Memorial. After taking fifth in his heat, Willard started the 40-lap, $5,098-to-win feature from 15th on the grid. He slid one spot and finished 16th.
