Willard takes on final weekend of Wild West Shootout

Brennon Willard and his western-themed No. 3 Super Late Model returned to Vado (New Mexico) Speedway Park from Friday through Sunday for the closing races of the 19th annual Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout miniseries.

After snow canceled the midweek portion of the event, Willard hit the track on Friday for a 39-car, $10,000-to-win program at the 3/8-mile oval. He drove his Willard Cattle No. 3 machine to eighth in his heat race and 10th in his B-Main, ending his evening before the 30-lap feature.

On Saturday, Willard competed in a 40-car field with another $10,000 top prize up for grabs. He finished ninth in both his heat and “B” to conclude his run at the 40-lap A-Main.

The next night, Willard was among 38 Super Late Model competitors in the Vado pit area. He raced to ninth in his heat and 10th in his B-Main, ending his Wild West Shootout shy of the 50-lap, $25,000-to-win finale.
