Willard Debuts with Summer Nationals at Davenport
Brennon Willard visited Davenport Speedway (Davenport, Iowa) on Thursday afternoon to debut with the DIRTcar Summer Nationals for the ninth round of the Hell Tour. With 35 entries on hand, Willard came in eighth in his heat race, transferring him into the C-Main for another shot at the $5,000-to-win A-Main. Scoring a runner-up finish behind Mitch McGrath, Brennon needed a second-place finish or better in his B-Main to make the show. Starting near the tail of the field, Willard logged a 10th-place outing.
The following night at 300 Raceway (Farley, Iowa) for the Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA) sanctioned opener, Brennon recorded a fifth-place finish in his heat, which positioned him 14th on the starting grid for the main event. Running a steady pace throughout the race, Willard notched a 14th-place finish in the 40-lapper.
On Saturday afternoon at 34 Raceway (West Burlington, Iowa), Willard was an early retiree from his heat race on the fifth lap. Earning the 20th-starting position for the $5,000-to-win A-Main, Brennon jumped up two spots in the 40-lap affair to place 18th.
